Nashville -- home of the Grand Ole Opry -- also hosts grand shopping options, starting at The Opry Shop, the collectible-rich retailer within the Grand Ole Opry House. With more than 10,000 country artist books, tapes, and CDs, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum Store stocks bluegrass to rockabilly from legends to hot new performers. Founded more than a half century ago, Ernest Tubb Record Shop locations on Broadway and on Music Valley Drive also fill country music needs, with general understanding that if his shops don’t have the music being sought, it’s not worth having. The Tennessee State Fairgrounds Flea Market ranks among the nation’s tops, drawing dealers and vendors from 30 states, and the Nashville Farmers Market on Eighth Avenue beckons with open-air stalls for fresh fruits, veggies, and plants.
On Jefferson Street since 1966, College Crib T-Shirts serves Meharry Medical College, Fisk University and Tennessee State University students, with special focus on African-American Greek organizations. Apple Barn – Cider Bar & General Store, on Opry Mills Drive, stocks fresh country produce; Bella Linea, on Highway 100, specializes in European linens, down, and bath accessories, and Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World handles outdoorsy gear. Nashville also has a barrel of Cracker Barrel Old Country Store locations. On Thompson Lane, 100 Oaks Mall features Off 5th Saks Fifth Avenue and Burlington Coat Factory.
